Yes, I buy kits often - especially at quilt shows or when I see something at a shop that I really like. They do all the cutting which saves you enormous amount of time. I also have the pattern to reuse if I decide to do it with other material later on. My sister and I often buy kids and then share the pattern with each other - so we do the same quilt but with different materials

I've never bought a kit. I always like to pick my own colors out, but if you're not into that, then a kit is the way to go.

I have never bought a kit. I won one on a quilt run one time. I did enjoy working on it as I did not have to think and just did it. I like to pick my own fabrics and pattern and stuff.

I have bought a lot of kits. Some from a quilt show I went to and some from Connection Threads. I have had great luck with them. So much fun.

I say if one is just what you want and all the fabrics you love, why not? I have over-bought for many quilts costing me twice what it should have. And it can be one of those well, I will put it away until I can find the rest of the right fabrics kind of thing. Which I have two of, right now waiting.
The kits can be tremendous fun because you are not agonizing over the material.
But, yes sometimes I have to do something I create completely from scratch.

Do you all think they are a fair price? Or would it be cheaper if you chose your own fabric?

I have not ever bought a kit, even though I look at them all the time in the stores and there are many beautiful kits. I love selecting my own fabrics. And, I LOVE the cutting process. I realize that most people don't like the cutting at all. So everybody has their own preferences. As for cost, they can be pricey, but that is because someone has put labor into it before you buy it.

I don't buy kits or do a lot of the BOM ones, find they are waaay to expensive!!! Its the convenience that you pay for. My motto is: "I don't pay for anything that I can do myself!" Frugal NE'er here!
