Default Do you press your binding?

I was wondering if you are supposed to press your binding
after finishing?

I press my binding before I attach it to the quilt. You do not have to, but it is easier for me since I sew it on without pinning.

I also sew the binding without pinning so I press the binding before attaching to the quilt. After the final laundry if need be I will press the whole quilt including the binding. I have had quilts that don't need pressing after the final laundry, so I don't. I believe it's just one of those things that is just up to what look you want. BrendaK

I do not press my binding after finishing. But I do press it before I sew it onto the quilt. Makes it much easier to do the hand sewing.

i do - as i also don't pin - and not sure how i'd keep the 2 edges of the binding straight and even without a lot of fussing...not a fusser.....it never occurred to me not to til i heard some of the ladies here talking about it. pressing works for me - so figure i'll keep on.

Yes I do press before I put it on. I was just wondering about after it is done.

I only press it before I sew it on.

I baste the raw edges of my binding together - and do not press it 'in half' - because I feel that the 'half mark' is not the final fold line that is sewn down on the back.

inside radius is somewhat smaller than outside radius

I glue and press (SS method) but I don't pin.

That said, I did notice a thread a couple of weeks ago about not pressing the binding before sewing it on.
It was the first I ever heard about doing this way.

Interesting approach, and it seems as if it had a lot of converts - some were thrilled with the improved results they were getting.

Different strokes for different folks.

Love it!
