Do you or should we make "Care Labels" for on our quilts that
we give away....To be sewn onto the backs of the quilt next to the makers quilt label....Something that says "Cold water, mild detergent, gentle cycle...Low Temp in Dryer or Hang outside."

These are our babies and the younger generation does not have a clue what to do with them.....

Opinions please...can these labels be purchased all ready made...

I write it out and put it with the quilt when I give it away. Just a general info, and I always include a small scrap-book page with the quilt and all care instructions.

i usually write the care instructions on the bottom of the card i send/give with the quilt...
thats a good idea tho...take a snapshot of the quilt and write the instructions on the back for them to keep

OK....let us be honest here....when it comes to washing it are they going to find the card or look for a label.....like with everything else in the laundry....

It's probably a good idea to tell them but I don't know if many people really pay attention when they wash.

Yes! I put care labels on my quilts! Here is a great tutorial for labels you can make at home.

I write it out and place it in a envelope with 2 Colour Catchers. After they are finished looking at their quilt, I pass them the envelope and explain the process. However, that being said, there are no guarantees that they listened to me. So, once a quilt is given, then it is their responsibility for the care.
