Default Do You Quilt for Others on your Tin Lizzie?

Just another considering a long arm to quilt for others. I'm considering a Tin Lizzie for it's affordbility mainly, and because it has the features I believe I need to get started.

Anyone here currently quilting for others on a Tin Lizzie? Any thoughts or suggestions for someone considering one?

I have one. I've experienced no problems with mine and it is very un-fussy about thread. I don't quilt for hire, but quilt many charity quilts and quilts tops made by friends and family.
Make sure you purchase from a dealer, especially if you are not used to maintaining a mechancal machine.

I don't but a close friend of mine does. She was up and running in a short amount of time and is quite successful, just doing edge to edge designs though she is starting to do custom work. You may want to rent time on a machine before you take the plunge to know if it's something you are even interested in.

I have had my lizzie for about 3 years. I love it. The only problems I've had were operator error problems, and or threading issues. I do quilt for others, since I'm a novice and still learning. I only quilt all over designs and they are hand guided, no pantographs, do not own a computer.

I quilt for free for my friends and family who make tops. I have taught 2 friends and my DGD to use my Lizzie. I have had mine for over 5 years and it's still great.

I almost bought a tin lizzie. Until I mentioned it at a quilt store and everyone in the shop said "Don't!". And they aren't a dealership for any other machine, either.
I bought a HandiQuilter Avante instead, for almost the same price - and I wouldn't hestiate to quilt for others on it (if I actually wanted to spend my time doing that)
