As beautiful as the Drunkard's path is, I am not good at doing curves... so that is the one type of pattern I shy away from. Maybe some day I will conquer my fear, but til that day, i stay away!

I am totally afraid of set in seams. That's about it. I am sure someday I will have to learn it because I would love to make a tumbling blocks quilt.

Pretty much all of the above. But especially lots of little pieces and set in seams. I'm also not too good at points but don't avoid even. Sometimes I have a few points that get cut off but haven't heard the quilt police pounding on my door! LOL

I shy away from Applique, curves and set in seams. I would love to try a Drunkard path someday, I just feel I need to "get better" first. Have shied away from diamonds and large areas of the white or whatever that needs special quilting cause that is a weak point for me. I also never use true solids, just don't like using them. I love to make quilts with lots of different fabrics so small peices or half-square triangles are welcome!!

if you like a pattern, just choose your own palette of fabrics and use a dark background ... or one with a busy print with companion fabs that look more-or-less solid.

Quilt Police and Color Police ... BEGONE!!! we don't need no stinkin' rules 'round here.

Never!!! why let fear and common sense stand in your way.. without challenges, you don't grow.. and heck.. you might find out you're good at what you were afraid of.

Tippy I like your advice but those curves scare me. Maybe I should just get some old fabric and try.
