I thinking about getting a refurbished Brother Sewing/Embroidery Machine from Overstock.com.

Does anyone out there have one? What do you think of it?

Can you embroider words or just monograms?

Thanks for your input!

I have an SE 270D which I think is basically the same.

Yes, you can embroider words. Just press which letter you want from the screen. It lets you pick letter, capitals or not, size of letters, etc. And has several alphabets from which to chose. Only negative - hoop only 4x4.

What do I think of it? I think it's great for the price. (got it used on Ebay $199). Meets my needs so far.

I have it and I love it, I use mine to make labels for my quilts also. You will want the PED basic so you can download all the free designs off the internet!

I have one also and love it. It does allow you to embroider letters and I use it to make quilt labels for all my quilts. Great all around machine for the price!
