Default Does anyone own a New Home 612 sewing machine?

I was given this machine to do quilt piecing for a local church. Does anyone own one of these. How do you like it for quilt piecing. I have a Brother that I do most of my sewing on, but did not want to run the donated material for the church quilts through my Brother electronic machine. The machine is pretty noisy and I suspect it needs a good cleaning and oiling. The bobbin case seems to wobble quite a bit.

Janome used to be known as New Home --the name changed quite some time ago, so I'm not sure how old this machine is. I would definitely see that it gets a good cleaning and checking out (and oiling). They made great machines. I used to sell the New Home machines, but I stopped that 20 years ago next month.

I bought this machine at a yard sale about 5 years ago for around 15.00 bucks. I took it in for a good cleaning and adjustment. I also ordered a manual online. I use it for classes and sew-ins. It sews great. My money was well spent.

It is always good to have a good non computer backup sewing machine. I would take it in for servicing just to get it working properly.

Thank you for your quick responses. I will be taking it in for a good cleaning and oiling. Hopefully I can find a walking foot for this machine as well.
