DH is an electrician in the Coast Guard (24 years). It is def is European, if using a converter be safe.

If there's felt on the bottom of the marble base, you will need to peel it back and there's probably a screw holding the bulb & the animal onto the base.

Yes, I agree with thimblebug, you probably have a screw on the bottom side of the marble base.
