awhile ago, someone challenged us to make doll quilts and stuffed animals/dolls for the toys for tots this year for christmas. So far, i've made 10 with matching quilts, and am making more every night. Thanks to Junebug for sending me pcs for an ISPY, with leftovers, i made some of the quilts that i'm donating with the stuffed guys.
everyone else, comeon, join in, If everyone just made one and donated to the need for kids this holiday season, we could all be a Santa to some unfortunate kid.

    What a great idea!
Anybody have suggestions for stitched gifts for the older kids, 9 to 13? They are hardest to shop for and don't get as many donated gifts as the littler ones, I've been told.

Would love to see some suggestions for the older kids. They are a challenge for us project people! :-)

Left over flannel or fleece make nice neck scarves and mittens for the older ones.

Coin purses, make up bags, snap bags, wallets, journal covers...

Our guild would make HUNDREDS of doll quilts for Toys for Tots until we were told that they would no longer accept anything not in its original packaging. Now many lucky day-care kids get the HUNDREDS (usually over 400!!) doll and teddy bear quilts and they LOVE them!

I made drawstring bags out of interesting bold fabrics so the kids can carry their stuff, from pj s to whatever they collect. They sew up fast and are well received. I have also made hand puppets for Ronald MacDonald house.
