I have a problem with the spray staying in my quilt for a long period of time. What am I doing wrong?

it is not made to stay for a long time, if you are working on a large project that is taking a long time (hand quilting?) maybe you would do better to spray small areas at a time. the basting spray holds (to a point) for you to put your quilt sandwich together, take it to the machine and quilt it. if you are doing something different than that something different would probably work better for you; like thread basting or safety pins.

The spray stays in too long and makes the quilt stiff. I only sprayed lightly. Is there a spray that is temporary?

Which brand are you using? I started with Sullivan's (pink can) as that was what I found at Mary Jo's (Gastonia). We use the June Tailor brand at my one quilt guild to baste and that seems to work just fine, too. My problem with not sticking was that I didn't hit the edges well as I was afraid of overspray and we work in a senior center and I didn't want to get it on the carpet (table is covered with brown paper). I use a sheet at home on the floor so it's way bigger than what I am working on so have no problems with getting edges good. Using too much of the spray may be why it's stiff. My quilts are not stiff and the spray holds as long as is needed.

    Hope this helps.

How long will the spray stay in the quilt? I used the spray on fleece with a cotton top and it is really stuck. It does not look good!!
