    Thank you all for the helpful information! Now that I know what it's called, I've found many beautiful pictures of this interesting design. Can't wait to make one of my own!

    It could be a table topper or a wall hanging, but I would like it to be a quilt. I think I would make it as a medallion in the center and add stuff around it until it got big enough. Like smaller stars, smaller spin stars, wide borders, etc. I would think I would have to applique the star to the background. But you could also add background fabric all around until it got square. ? ? ?

    It is the center block and called Star Spin. My pattern comes from Oregon Treasures and is for a quilt or wallhanging.
    Just checked their website and pattern is still avaiable.
