Someone asked me today about making a "dove" quilt, with the dove being a symbol. I really only piece quilts and will look for dove fabric, but I was wondering if any of you CRAFTY people have any ideas? In the meantime, I have asked the person to try to find pictures of what they might be interested in. Thanks for your help.

can't say that I've seen any pieced doves... I have seen fabric with doves on it ( don't recall where... but probably a Christmas line ) I have seen some nice dove appliques'.

Find a line drawing of a dove and copy it for an applique quilt.

I'm pretty sure there is a pieced dove (not paper pieced) that is a variation of the Rob Peter to Pay Paul block. Will see if I can find it online.

Okay. I found the block here:

I would probably change the block slightly, but you get the idea. It was a beautiful quilt!

I did a quilt, through my LQS, "Dove in the Window". It is strip pieced and my quilt was given to my oldest DD. It is a old pattern the shop owner revamped. She sales the pattern, her shop is Something to Crow About in Springfield, OR. Here is her the link to her shop.

If you are interested in this one, I know I have seen her pattern in the shop and she would gladly help you out.

Not so traditional Dove in the Window

Quilter's Cache has 2 dove blocks. These might be nice with some dove appliques added...there are some nice applique outlines on the link to the color pages above.
