I am a newbee actually and would like to know if you put anything like interfacing on dresdan plates before you applique them to a block?

I don't think there is any reason to, unless you were using the interfacing for turning the edges under before appliquing. :D:D:D

Check out eleanor burns on quilter'stv.com, she uses fusible interfacing to do the circle in the middle very easy technique.
    hope this is helpful.

I use interfacing because I like it a little firmer, easier to stitch for me. YOu can also buy those pre-made pieces at piecemakers.com and you simply cut around them and fold them under the templates. Maybe look at their website.

I do the interfacing on the circles to fold the edges under. I do the blades with the easy Dresden ruler, so those edges are turned under. I hold the blades in place to applique with Elmer's glue.

PK so the way I understand it is that you have to fold under the edges before doing applique ` wouldint the dresdans loose their shape thanks cheryl :-D
