The templates are not thin at all. Very sturdy.

I would like mention an important detail about the MSQ Dresden Ruler. The Scrappy Dresden was made with the MSQ LARGE Dresden Ruler which is not the same as the rulers bought at JoAnn's or Amazon...etc...that measure 8".

My friend and I made the MSQ Scrappy Dresden with our 8" Dresden rulers as per the pattern. The Jelly Roll 2-1/2" strips sets and our rulers gave us only 18 blades. The LARGE ruler gives you 20 blades. When Jenny was making her plate you'll notice she used that one 4-strip strata to make ONE plate. I had to make all the blades and do a mix/match to get the 20 and all the plates seemed to look alike, which turned out fine because the jelly roll was color coordinated, but it wasn't the look I was wanting.

Hope this makes sense.....

I have the EZ template and have made some very nice Dresden items with it. I found one similar on MSQC sale priced at $11.95. The EZ on Amazon is $5.95. I always enjoy MSQC and their fabric is always top quality. But. I find many of their items simply over-priced. Probably the difference between a small business and the massive "other" consumer world. Those who prefer patronizing smaller or local businesses may pay more but feel good about supporting those retailers. Others may prefer the lower price of large retailers...

I have the EZ template. It isn't the same quality as the MSQC one. I think that is the reason for the price difference. Either one will do the job but they are different.

Thank you all for your great input on the MSQC dresden plate template. I think I may order it. I thought there was only one size and it must be a little larger than my EZ wedge template. Kudos to everyone.

I have the one Jenny used in the checkered Dresden tutorial. I like it because you can make a larger or smaller Dresden with it. I am making the quilt now. Love the 22 inch blocks. Makes a nice quilt.

Maureen-Love your block with that beautiful fabric. Do you mind sharing what fabric line that is? I am really sold on purchasing the wedge template from MSQC now. I really like the larger dresden plate. You are right-it will make a beautiful quilt. Thank you for sharing and will anxiously wait for you to let me know what fabric line you used.

It's an older Moda jelly roll that I have had for a couple years. Sorry I can't think of the name of it. I decided to make it a queen so I had to beg, borrow and steal from my friends stash for extra strips! It makes a 22 inch block so it's a quick one.

Thank you Maureen for the fabric info. Just ordered the dresden template from MSQC and will be looking for fabric soon. I appreciate you replying and good luck on finding enough stash to go with your jelly roll. Your block is beautiful.
