    Thanks Bearisgray for the instructions. I have sewn items with this method before and it really is very simple after you do it the first time and there isn't any need for Y seams.

    Thanks, Bear. Nice use of graph paper to show us how to do this. Those outside pieces look like triangles, but they are "truncated" triangles. That's what gives them four sides. (truncate: to shorten by cutting off the end or top)
