I have recently been organizing my stash (and loving every minute of ironing, folding, and fondling it all), and thought that I finally have enough variety to make a nice scrappy quilt. My question to the other scrappers is do you include obviously seasonal fabrics such as prints with Santas, jack-o-lanterns, and such?

Unless it is a specifically seasonal item I will avoid obviously seasonal fabric. Stars, snowflakes, and hearts would be exceptions.

depends- if i'm going to make an (all-seasons) scrappy- that shows themes from all year long-i will add holiday/theme fabrics-
for a more (generic) scrappy i do not unless it is cut so it does not seem to be a specific theme

I use a bit of everything. Personally I like looking at scrappies and remembering each fabric !

Another scrappy quilt. Great! I have found that if it is a small patch parttern it works. I made a Steps to the Alter which has 1 1/2" pieces. Use anything you have in these styles. It all blends together. The larger the blocks get the more any one fabric can take over the look so I always audition the fabric.

I put the fabric in paper bags L-M-D and as I pull a piece out I say yes or no to it. back it goes if I don't like it in the spot I'm working on. That's part of the fun. Even Scrappy can be pampered a bit.

Have fun and post as you go!
    peace :D

I use what I like. So yes, even if it's obvious, if I like it, I will use it. Why not?
