This beautiful runner was recently posted on the board. It's a d9p so I'm sure you could use fat quarters. You wouldn't have to use the triangles if you wanted really easy. I think by the size, the nine patches would be made from 5" blocks.

Edited to say: Not 5" blocks, but each of the 9 squares sewn together to make the block would be 5".
