i have an eiderdown that is almost 100 years old. The fabric is tearing very easily and I would like to recover it. Anyone got any idea's how to get the eiderdown out of the old cover and into the new one without creating a snowstorm in my living room?

I don't have any ideas about getting it out, but what if you made a duvet cover for it?

I agree. I would see if you could cover the whole thing. Otherwise, you'll be vacuuming eiderdown out of your crevices for the next 6 months.

Seems that when my mom would make new covers for feather pillows that she did it outside and would put the entire old one in the new one and shake the feathers into the new one.

I made a cover for a down comforter years ago - put in a nice long zipper all the way down one side so it would be easy to take off, launder and put back on. Worked great!
