I did an elephant themed baby quilt a couple of years ago. I found an elephant paper pieced pattern in one of my quilting books that has a ton of block patterns. (Sorry, I don't know the name of the book and am at the cabin right now). The new mom wanted pink and brown. Maybe someone else can find the name of the book for you.

Oh, I think on your first you should not find out the gender. I tell every new parent that the 9 months of waiting, not knowing, since it's a new phase in their life, is well worth it. It's a moment, a feeling, you will remember for the rest of your life. There's nothing like no other feeling. For the 2nd one, I don't see a big problem. There are many cute pics out there. Take them all in and make one your own.

That pattern the nanna-up-north posted is absolutely darling. Amazing how this new generation of parents are NOT picking the traditional colors we older quilts grew up with.
Found block on Pinterest that nanna-up-north used.

My last baby quilt request was yellow, aqua and grey. Thought it strange color combos but what the heck. Came up with this quilt pattern and had enough scraps to make the little stuffed elephant, pattern I found online free. Even used up some of the leftover blocks on the backside.
