I've been using a glue stick with great success for paper piecing when I need to hold fabric to the paper. Pulls away and doesn't leave a residue
Make sure it's the washable white glue - NOT the regular Elmer's wood glue. A little goes a long way.

I use the Elmer's School Glue (washable) glue stick. Lots easier than pinning and the paper & fabric don't get distorted.![]()
Elmers School Glue Stick is the best for paper piecing. Storing it in the refrigerator makes it last longer too.![]()

May have to try the stick, but has anyone tried just regular washable glue from bottle?
