I am thinking about getting an embriodery machine and have been looking at the Brother machines. Does anyone have a Brother or another that they just couldn't do without? If so, I would be interested in hearing from you. I am looking at the SE400 and the PE770. I am planning on using this for home enjoyment only, so I don't need the most expensive machine. I would like something that can be connected to the computer to get a larger assortment of patterns. Thank you so much!!!

I have an SE350, haven't used it yet for embroidery much just the sewing part and love all the stitches. Why not start out inexpensive? It works for me.

I have a Brother ULT2001 and LOVE IT. My g/friend has a Janome 11000 and she loves that one as well! Hopefully you can try out several machines before you decide. Have fun!

I use my Brother SE350 for both embroidery and sewing I love it. It does not connect to the computer though I think the SE400 does. It stitches out very nice and is not at all fussy about thread.

I have the Brother SE270D which is an older one- and LOVE it- it does not connect to the computer ,so can't answer that for you - but can tell you it is pretty simple to use :lol: I have yet to use it as a regular sewing machine - as I have other machines for that.

Are you planning on using it just for embroidery ? If so doesn't the second machine have a bigger hoop area ? The 400 is a 4x4- if you "just" want it to embroider- and the other one has a bigger hoop I would get that one :wink:

I bought my first embroidery machine - a Janome 350E and just loved it. All it did was embroider, that way I could embroider and sew both. Uses both a 4x4 & 5x7 hoops. Simple to operate. Can download jef patterns on a thumb drive that's been formatted and off you go! Was wonderful. Last year I upgrated to a Janome 11000 Memory Craft and it too is awesome. However, at times I still wish I had kept my 350E. It was not as heavy and easier to move around for sure. Good luck!

No matter what brand you get, make sure you get the biggest hoop size even if you don't think you'll need it. The 4x4 hoops are usually to small for most of the designs out there now.

I also have a 350E and love it. My first was a brother combo and within a week, I knew that I wanted a machine that would do more and that I didn't like the combo. When i am sewing on another machine, the 350E is doing it's thing. It is simple and easy, has the USB port. You may not be that concerned about the computer but it is a nice plus. I can use cards, too. I purchased a separate hard drive to use for the embroidery cd's. Just made things simpler. 4"x4" and 5"x7" are the most utilized sizes.

Hi,I have a Brother Esante embroidery / sewing machine. It is a charm and has the 6X9 down to 2X2 frames. Lots of patterns built into the machine for sewing and embrodering plus an area for loading from a card.
I did get an newer modle of Brother so will probably sell the first, but do check them out, nice and easy to use.
