I did until I got help from my local quilt store. Once I took my machine in and did it in the store I never had a problem after that. Maybe you could get some help?

I'm still learning, and that removes some of the fun, but I still like doing it occasionally. I don't use it a lot - if I had software to make my own custom designs I'd probably use it more; it doesn't feel as creative to me to only stitch out other people's designs, it would be a lot more appealing to me if I could be more creative with it. But so far I haven't been motivated to figure that all out.

I DO still consider it a bit of a cheat compared to hand embroidery but I love creative cheats so that's not a negative thing. I cheat and machine quilt, I cheat and sew my bindings by machine, I cheat and use Elmer's to baste. If I didn't do all that cheating I'd have given up on quilting about three seams into my first quilt, LOL.

Not sure if my answer should count. I have been doing machine embroidery for 6 years and have loved every stitch I have put on my machine. I have a Bernina which keeps count of the stiches and when I had my machine serviced the last time I was told there is only 1 other machine in the US that has more stiches on it than mine. And I embroider everything that can't move away from me and I embroider every day. Toilet tissue has been one of the most interesting.

Like anything in life, husbands, kids, bosses and sewing machine there are the good times and the bad times. I've gotten frustrated with my sewing machine, my serger and my embroidery machine, all TOL. The good far out weighs the bad and most of the time its a matter of trying different things and then you have that awesome moment and wonder why you didn't try that in the beginning. Its all part of the learning part.
