I've written to a few of your privately asking what kind of embroidery machines you have, but I thought.....why not just post the question to all.

I've recently become a bit obsessed with Crazy Quilting and thought machine embroidery would look great on some of the patches. I love the hand embroidery but just do not have the time. For the ones that do machine embroidery, what machine do you have? I've tested the Bernina Bernette Deco 340 and the Janome 350e, but I can't decide. There are so many others out there and no dealers around in order to test. I've been looking at the "lower end" models, that are embroidery only (not sewing machine combos).

Any advise......likes, dislikes about your machine?

Hi Sarah
I have 3 brother and I have moved up each time but stayed with the brother. My lagrgest is the 4000D. Brother has differnt type machine that will do different hoop sizes. Look at those as you check out the different machine. They come out with new stuff every year.
Just about every machine Company has some type of embroidery machine.

My husband got me a Babylock Sofia 2 for Christmas. We were out somewhere or other and passed by SewRight and decided to stop in. I was looking for something that had a wider variety of stitching edges for my veils and then we saw this one. I thought, what on earth am I going to use an embroidery machine for. Ha! The answer is EVERYTHING!

I love everything about it. In retrospect, at times I wish that I had gotten one with a bigger hoop, but honestly, this is just fine. I can do so much with it.

I have a Bernina 830. I traded up from a Pfaff 7570 after using it for over 13 years. It still works beautifully...its just limited to a 4x4" sewing field. Love the Bernina. Since I've had 2 different machines..I will say that the real "trick" with machine embroidery is learning how to hoop & stabilize correctly. They are all work horses and will only deliver results as good as the person running them. =)

Do you want embroidery or fancy stitches? Many sewing machines have the fancy stitches and they ?might cost less than an embroidery machine.

Have Husqvarna Viking combo SE which is sewing/emb...The sewing machine part of most Husqvarna's have so many quilting, heirloom stitches you may want to look at their sewing machines versus Embro. Shapphire is probably a good one to look at.

Well....I have a Janome 6600 which has a ton of different stitches (not sure how many offhand), so I was thinking of just an embroidery machine to do different motifs on crazy quilts (and I'm sure I would do a lot of other things as time permits, like those beautiful Christmas napkins we just saw on the board).

I have a Brother se310 but if I did it over I could get one that had a usb port very user friendly and good stitch!

I really like my Babylock Ellegante. The Babylock Ellegante II proceded the Ellegante, and now they have several others very reasonably priced for what you get. If you want, you can google Babylock retailers, type in your city and state, and find a retailer within 10-100 miles of you. My retailer was willing to drive 65 miles to teach me and drop in when I needed assistance. That's service!
