    Embroidery machines

I am very new to quilting and was wondering (since i can't afford a long arm and the places i have priced to have someone else finish a quilt with a long arm is so expensive) could i use my embroidery machine to finish my quilt?

    Thank!

the short answer is yes. the longer answer is....you can finish a quilt on any machine. if you are unsure of your free motion abilities, you can print a design out on paper piecing paper, and stitch over it, or mark it with a marker and quilt that way. I have an embroidery machine, but find that it is limited as far as size of area that can be done at a time..I think it would drive me insane to keep hooping and unhooping all over a quilt! But...yes...you absolutely can use your embroidery machine to quilt a quilt!

donna is right about the hooping and rehooping. i have used mine on small projects. also, the lining up is tricky. i think the embroidery machine would be better using the quilt as you go method. but i love the precision look it gives. here's a link to the projects i quilted with the embroidery machine
