Default Enough quilting?

Do you think this top needs any more quilting? So far I've sewn round edges of the aqua squares, following the line of the picture blocks. I've considered doing the same lines on the picture squares, but am not sure it needs it. If I had more time, I might put a motif in the aqua squares, but the baby I'm making the quilt for is born and growing fast

And any ideas for a simple way to quilt the border? Preferably with a walking foot. I'll probably stitch in the ditch around the narrow border.

Thanks.

I like the look of the blocks just the way they are. Pretty little quilt! Sorry, no ideas for order!

Does it conform to the width instructions on your batting type? Most specify a maximum not to exceed for best results when washed. Otherwise the batting can bunch up over time.

That is a very cute quilt! Even with the pink, I would consider this gender neutral (unless there is a pink princess square off screen). : )

I would echo the same lines you've done in the quilt, into the border. looks great!

Very cute quilt! I think straight lines, mimicking your quilt lines, in the border would be cute. Or, piano keys are easy and always look nice. Look on your package of batting for quilt spacing recommendations.

I agree with SherB. Piano keys would look nice in the border.

Thankyou!

There are a couple of blocks with pink unicorns on them! That's as princessy as it gets. I hate the whole princess thing for girls, when boys get much more interesting themes. I think the baby's parents agree, luckily, so I tried to get enough pink to acknowledge that the baby is a girl, without going overboard.

Piano keys are a good idea - thanks.

I've just looked at the batting instructions, and the maximum spacing is 10in, so I'm fine with my 4.5in blocks.

...I was worried when making this top that all the different fabrics (20 picture fabrics, each one used twice) that it would just look random and disjointed, as there's quite a range of colours and styles. But having an animal theme has helped, and I think the aqua background fabric and the borders manage to pull it all together.
