I'm saving up for EQ 7 but was wondering if anyone thinks/knows if the next version is coming out soon. Does it even make any difference to wait for the newest version? I know 7 has been out a while.

I have EQ7 love it, haven't a clue when new version will be out.
Someone posted not too long ago that they had contacted Electric Quilt by email posting the same question. EQs response was that there was no upgrade in the fore see able future.

If there is a new version and if you are registered with another version you will get the updated version much cheaper then the cost of the new. I think the most I've paid for any updated version was $60.
