I am just recently getting into applique and have EQ7 and just realized that there are programs affiliated with EQ that has applique patterns. Wondering if anyone has any of these programs from EQ Boutique and if you love them. I don't think you need EQ program to use this software. Thanks for any info you can give me.

For those that don't know what it is, EQ has a stand alone program called EQBoutique (free to download), and sells collections of patterns/blocks by designers/authors.
Once you purchase and download a collection, you can print the blocks out in any size, including foundation, rotary cutting instructions, templates - whatever is applicable to that block - using the EQB software.

If you have EQ7 (I don't believe prior versions work), you can also incorporate the blocks into your projects.

I thought it was a really interesting (and smart) idea on EQ's part to partner up with designers/authors for this endeavor - including Karen Combs (NYBeauties) and Judy Martin (several star collections).
I see they have Quiltmakers 100 blocks available now.
Prices run from $9-$30, depending on the collection.

Best part about it for them is no production costs - everything is done online, no CD's. Also for the authors - time to market after designing a collection is really shortened.

I don't usually buy patterns and I prefer to draft my own in EQ, so I don't know if it's for me, but there is definitely an market for it.
I did hear of someone who was working on a collection that would be of interest to me, so I'm waiting to see what that one will include.

To me, the whole concept makes more sense and is more useful than buying a similar pattern quilt e-book.

Oh, and they do have a free collection of Ohio Stars you can download to check it out.

But follow the directions to first download the software.

NAYY.

Thanks, MTS for the info. Since I have EQ7 and there is no phone # for me to contact staff there; shall I download into my EQ7?

1-Download the EQB software.
2-Download/Purchase a collection (or try the free one).

3-Once you've downloaded a collection, there is an option to "Link MY EQ Boutique Blocks to EQ7" - each time you buy/download a new collection, you have to re-run this.

It will show up in the Block Library in EQ7.
"Boutique - Ohio Stars" etc.

At least, that's my understanding of it works.
This laptop only has EQ6 so I can't test it.
But I do see the option to link to EQ7.

Now, technically, is it making a copy of the blocks and putting them in the EQ7 library, or will it always read it from EQB?
That I don't know. :?: Sorry.

I downloaded the free one to see how it looks and works. So far it looks great! I didn't see the option to link; but will go back now and see if it can link to EQ7 for me.
Thank you so much for your help.

I saw it on the Program Menu.
I don't know if it's the only place.

You select Electric Quilt, you'll see
EQ7
My EQB

And then under My EQB,
My EQB
Link my EQB Blocks to EQ7

or some such verbiage.

The software?
I don't see why not as it's free to download.

Now, if you download a collection....I don't know if it's just the one file which you can copy around.
Try it and see.

Download the free collection, and then see if you can move THAT file to your other computer and have it work in EQB over there.

Then you'd be able to link it to both versions of EQ7 (if you have it).

I'm not sure, though, that it's doable.

Let us know.

It linked to my EQ7 without problem. Thank you for your help. I will probably be spending a few bucks with this group and the good part is; they are in Ohio. I saw the address and even phone # on their FB page!
