Default Akonye Kena Fabric

Has anyone used this fabric. If so, do you have any tips for working with it - other than starching it stiff as a board.

I had to google this hadn't heard of it before. I don't think (unless it is really thin) that you would have to starch it stiff as a board, but I do always use starch. Looks pretty interesting - let us know how you like working with it.

It is a slightly heavier fabric like homespun. It is woven and hand dyed in East Africa. Beautiful colors.

I bought a bunch of it at Houston this year.
That guy is quite a character.

The fabric is still too pretty to cut....so it just sits there where I can look at it.

I scanned the fabric but it looks horrible - it SO is much more vibrant and bright and happy than this picture.

Well, adding starch is never a problem for me.

But it would need something - it's not flimsy as in thin (like cheap fabric, which this definitely isn't), but it has no body to it.
Actually would probably be great for clothing.

Now off to find the orange/pink colorway cuts - don't know where I stashed those.

My Akonye Kena fabric arrived today. All 457 yds of it in two 100# boxes. Just hoping it is the colors I selected. It was delayed because of the storm in Boston and ws diverted to NYC then to here where Customs had to open it and inspect it. Hope it is all there. It is working up beautifully.
