Default European Quilt Shows

Does anyone know of quilt shows in Europe - especially in France and Germany? If so, when and where are they? We may be planning a trip, probably in the fall or in 2015. We thought it would be neat to do it around a show. Thanks.

I know that there are quilts stores in both France and Germany because Georgia Bonesteel did a couple of episodes for her TV show while traveling with a group of quilters a few years ago..

I could help with UK shows, but not France or Germany, I'm afraid. Lots of Europeans seem to come over here for our big shows: I don't know if that says anything about the lack of equivalents.

A great event in France/Alsace is taking place every year in September, it's in Saint Marie Aux-Mines. You can find some information here: http://www.patchwork-europe.com/?language=GB

We have some small quilt shows here Germany all over the year in different places, but their size are not comparable with the ones in US or UK and most of them are not judged. The German Patchworkgilde has just opened their triennial exhibition called "Tradition bis Moderne" (around 40 quilts) and you can see it in November and December in Deggendorf which is in Bavaria. Just in case you are interested I could send you detailed information.

I'm sure there will be small quilt shows in 2015 but many of the dates haven't been published yet.

Quilting is not as 'big' in most of Europe as it is in the US, so fewer shows (and smaller audience, lol). There is a link to the French Patchwork Europe website here. I think this is the biggest show and the only one I can find.

Link to this year's Expo Berlin here. I had a quick look at the participants - seems very small.

Also, there a couple of board members from the armed forces currently posted to Germany who may be able to help with Germany. You can find them by doing a Member Search by 'Location'.

Next time I'm in my LQS (only one, lol) I'll ask the owner if she knows of any. Good luck

The literal translation is, 'Long may your chimney smoke'. In other words - hope you have a long life
