I know the feed dogs drop but what foot do you use for FM on the 301?

Has anyone bought the walking foot for the 301...I see it on ebay I'm assuming it's fine to use looks like a modern newer model.

Also I guess there's no way to have the needle stay down in the fabric when you lift your foot? So use to the modern machines where you have the option via a button

This is where I purchased my walking foot. I love it. It works wonderful for quilting! I have not looked to see if I could have got it cheaper. Good luck. I know you will love this machine for FMQ!

For free motion on a 301, you would want to use a darning foot, just like on other machines.

Not sure on the walking foot, except that it helps if the walking foot is made specifically for your model of machine so that the feet of the walking foot match the feed dogs. The newer machines often have feed dogs spaced more widely apart. A walking foot designed for that width will not work as well on a 301.

When you stop, just turn the wheel until the needle is down, then lift the presser foot.

April does not have a walking foot foot for the 301. This machine takes only slant needle attachments. I have her darning foot and I love it. My instructor at FMQ class was impressed with it - she felt it was better than what the store sells or her Bernina one. AnnieRose does a great job FMQ. Her problem is her operator. I am having trouble sewing in all directions, but it'll come with practice. I can stitch in the ditch without a walking foot because the presser foot is adjustable. Just release the pressure slightly to accommodate the thickness of the batting.
