WOW, they are beautiful boxes as I haven't seen any octagon boxes. I love how you trimmed them out and the quilting you did as well.

Those are cool, but they look like a lot more detailed that the quickie ones......do you have to use stiffener!

No stiffener. Just used heavy interfacing.

    Tessagin, your boxes are gorgeous!

Here are the ones I made with French Seams.

Fabric Boxes with French Seams Tutorial

Two factors determine the final size of your boxes: the size of the square you begin with and the size/depth of the corners you sew. In other words if you begin with a 15" square and make your corners a depth of 3" it will differ in size height and width from a 15" square where you make your corners a depth of 1.5".

You have to begin with one size square and play around until you come up with the combo you want. Some have made these boxes so you can put a roll of t.p. in them. I haven't made that size yet so I don't have the dimensions. I think the sky is the limit as to what you can fill them with.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found, was blind, but now I see.

I think that the ones I made last Christmas were with a starting square of 10" and the worst part is tacking down those corners, so if I make any this year, I am going to make French seams instead.

I use the stitch to attach buttons to tack down the corners and I try to find buttons I like that I can also attach with my machine. Usually I can make the whole fabric box on the machine - no hand stitching. Made one for each month for my sister-in-law this year and also ones using Ohio State fabric for my MIL. I put wrapped candy in the ones I give for gifts.
