Default fabric calculator

Been looking at a fabric calculator and was wondering if it would be worth the money? I always have a hard time figuring how much fabric to buy for certain blocks. Thank you!!

Oooh! They make such a thing? I need one, too. There is so much dang math in quilting! LOL

Just found this one online. Pretty cool! I'm going to bookmark it. http://vrya.net/quilt/index.php

They make quilt calculator apps for smart phones and the Ipads.
Also, here is a link to some free calculators if you don't need them when you are out and about:

I copied one online. Would be lost without it.

I found the fabric calculator to be more of a nuisance than assistance... and if you are not precise in what you put in for a calculation.. its of no use. I found I had more confidence if I just took my time and double checked my calculation prior to going to the LQS it was all I needed.

I use the fabric calculator app on my phone when I go fabric shopping for a quilt. I pay for the phone and service so I let it do the work for me.

I bought 2 of the ones Joanns carries when the quilting notions were half price. One for my purse and one for my sewing room. Love them. It not only tells me how much fabric is needed but how many strips to cut. All allowances are automatically calculated in. Pretty sophisticated tool - with good instructions.

Someone suggested one for iPad here on QB, so I have the Robert Kaufmann calculator now. Remarkably, I don't use it that much, except when I'm trying to figure out how many strips to cut for binding! (But it's TOTALLY worth it just for that!)

I have one on my iPhone and also the one that is specifically for quilting, I love both the stand alone has a bit of a learning curve buts its great for yardage calculations...
