fabric choice advice needed!

I'm getting ready to take a class at my LQS. It is machine applique and we're using A Thirties Treasure pattern. Thirties colors are a bit muted for my taste and I would like to use bright colors and a black background. What do you all think, should I stick with the thirties colors?

this pattern would look great with the fabric changes you've suggested.

I'm not a fan of 30s fabric either. Too dainty. The pattern would look great with any contrast. I can see it with batics on the black. Yum!

Do what you like! I think it will be awesome with the brighter colors.

I'm with MadQuilter on this one - I think bright batiks or just brights on black would look stunning.
