I agree. I don't think I could that beautiful fabric. How about making a table runner or a wall hanging. That that with one narrow border then a wider one. Simple and would show off the beautiful fabric.

I love the Asian fabric and if she is kind of a feminine person I think she would like that one better. I would be better in a larger project than a mug rug, maybe a table topper, square or hexagon. Good luck with whatever you pick. She's sure to like it.

Great fabric! I almost purchased it myself. If you haven't completed the potholders, how about one of those herbal tea coaster things? Where you stuff the fabric with herbs - lavender - then set a warm pot, teapot, etc on it for a nice scent?

Thanks folks for your input. I cut down the koi to as small as comfortable without chopping up the fish. It is too big for a mug rug unless you are the Jolly Green Giant. SO I will do a hot pad. Also, in the tut on the bowl warmer, it suggested quilting only one side, fabric and batting. I was concerned that it would either be too bulky with insulbrite and too hard to quilt through. Great idea! And I think potholders of the flower portion of the fabric.
I will post pics when I am done.
