    Some people think so, but no. You can make a quilt out of any fabric you desire. Some are easier to work with than others, some require special handling and bit different construction, but "your quilt, your rules." Just make sure to use a cleaning method appropriate to the fabric. I have one I made 30 years ago entirely out of satin.
