Default Fabric Prep.

I really don't like it, yet I'm busy washing, pressing, & cutting it.
I got a new serger & a $20 off coupon at Handcock Fabrics for Christmas. I went & bought fabric for a 60 min. quilt, (I got the pattern a week ago.) I want to start making this right now, but I'm still doing fabric prep. I considered not washing, but I've been burned with fabric that bled, so... I'm washing, pressing & cutting.

How do you feel about it?

It all depends on what colors I am using - reds always get prewashed Batiks get prewashed also ... other then that I don't like to prewash - it is about 50/50 on who prewashes and who doesn't

I always wash and dry all fabrics before I fold them and add to the tons of other fabrics I have,

I have never washed my fabrics . I'm a press and cut kinda gal. I haven't worked with reds, so I will remember to wash first when I do.

Do you have an express wash on your machine?? I have one and it takes 30 minutes a load.

I always wash my fabric before cutting it. I only iron it when I am ready to use it. I never mind it because I have seen too many ruined quilted items and that's not for me. No regrets here.

I didn't used to wash fabric first, but after a bad experience I am now washing all fabric first, usually when I get it home. Now I can't remember which of my fabric has been washed. Sometimes I can't tell so I am rewashing some. I don't wash scraps, usually washing the end project. It seems to take some time, but one ruined quilt was enough.

I agree, 1 ruined quilt is 1 too many. I appreciate Ya'll letting me gripe. I guess I'll get back in there & start pressing.

I love washing and pressing new fabric. It extends the joy of buying it!
