my 15 year old daughter took my Orange Handled Fiskers ~the big pair~ to cut paper with..she doesn't understand why I'm upset. Can some of you help me explain to her so she doesn't think I'm just "freaking out" for nothing... Grrr!

There are 15 pair of scissors around here marked with a sharpie in big letters PAPER.

At my house they are tagged paper or fabric. Everyone knows they better never use any unless they say PAPER!!!!!!!!!!

Just tell her it dulls them and you need them sharp for cutting fabric and if she uses them again, you will mop the floor with her favorite outfit :)..just kidding

Do you have any scissors specifically for paper?

If so, then you can explode.

If not, break down and buy yourself another pair of fabric scissors.

HOWEVER - if she took the scissors from YOUR area without permission, I would be perturbed at her - daughter or not!

I like this! But I think I will make her pay to have them sharpened.

The cutting of paper will dull the blades leaving them unusable for cutting of fabric that requires a sharper blade.

Find your paper scissors and give her some scraps to cut and she will see the difference. Everyone has to learn, no one at my house would dare use fabric scissors to cut paper. DH actually came trained on that idea from his Mother and I know I have been taught from a small child that this is a NEVER.
