My husband loves fall colors and I've been collecting fabric for about 5 years. I probably have enough for 3 quilts by now. My problem is, I can't decide what pattern to use. I've toyed with the idea of a Lone Star, a Bargello, a Trip Around the World, or a quilt similar to Turning Twenty (abstract) but it would probably be Turning Eighty - since the size will be about 75 X 75". I'm having problems visualizing the end product. Would appreciate some input or ideas on other patterns. I have tons of colors that would work for a fall quilt - and would like to use quite a few fabrics.

Here is a fall quilt I made last year

I always think of maple leaf blocks when it comes to fall prints- scrappy ones would be cute.

I always think of trees and leaves.

You could make a Twister, or Lil' Twister. The difference is using 10" blocks or 5" blocks. I love how they turn out. The trick is to make sure there is contrast between each block so you can see the twister.

I agree with Maggymae, the maple leaf pattern was the first one came to my mind, couldn't be more Fall-looking than colored maple leaves.

I think the bargello would make a wonderful fall quilt for a man. Sometimes choosing the pattern is the hardest part. Have fun creating and share when you have decided.

Terri Degenkolb has an awesome pattern called ‘October Sky’ in her Full Circle book. It’s perfect for oodles of fabrics and has a nice masculine design. It’s in the upper right corner of this image.

She self-publishes and the book is currently on sale for $13 on her website.

Put the names on paper, put papers in a bag, close your eyes and pick. :)

Have you shown him some patterns you are considering? Maybe he has a preference.
