Default How to make a travel terrycloth toiletry bag?

Hi Everyone.......I would like to sew and quilt a travel toiletry bag for my granddaughter......she goes away a lot for business and always complains that her shampoo etc is always falling out of her bag.....so heres the plan....I saw an item somewhere on here or another site but cant find it now....it was flat not a bag but a roll/up............it had several compartments side by side that you would put your shampoo....hair spray......soap and other items and then when you were finished using it all you did was roll it up and tie it.....one side was done in terry/cloth the other side was a real pretty beachy print that was so adorable.......so I figured I would quilt the beachy fabric or for that matter maybe buy fabric already quilted and just add the terry/cloth fabric inside......but I have no idea how to start this and thought maybe some of you fine ladies out there may have a pattern or could possibly direct me to where to look......thx so much for all your help.......Trish

If she flies, she has to have everything in a quart-sized plastic zip bag, no? If she is able to take the train or her own car, then just check with her or someone who knows, if you want to keep it a surprise, make it a little wider than the tallest bottle she uses, then make the pockets a little wider than the bottles, see if you can get an empty one out of her house when she isn't looking, or buy one to put in there, use it to make your template. not really hard, just make enough pockets to hold everything she will need, hair stuff, lotions, toothpaste/brush, etc., make pocket piece between 1/2 and 2/3 height of roll, bind, stitch pocket widths, attach tie or button/loop - use your imagination and you'll do fine!

If she flies the only way she can use it is if she checks her bag. Other wise ( as stated in previous post ) it has to be in a 1 quart see - through zip lock bag.
If you are looking for something fast and easy for use in her checked bag. Why not just take a nice decorative handtowel sew a zipper on the top edges and then sew up the side seams. If you wanted you could sew plastic to the towel prior to the other sewing . The best part about a hand towel is they come finished on the edges and there is some with really nice embroidery.

Here's one. You probably could adjust it to any size you want.
