My DH and I found a 1950 FW for $10.00 yesterday. It runs great, but I am not threading it correct, because it refuses to make any stitches. Any help would be great.

It threads from left to right. That's probably what's wrong...

See if you can find a manual for it on line. Good luck.

Do a Google Search for Threading a Featherweight and you will find tutorials for how to do it and I think there's even a YouTube video out there showing how.

Did you make sure all the dust and lint were cleaned out.

Feather weights thread from right to left. I just took a class yesterday on Featherweights. Make sure the flat side of the needle is facing to the left.

See Featherweight221.com for supplies

Right to left through the needle :) Also, needle goes in with flat side toward the left. Also, make sure the bobbin doesn't move backwards when you turn the wheel backwards. Someone had removed the throat plate and didn't get the nub on the bobbin area back in the slot on the throat plate. Thread kept breaking. Easy to fix, just remove throat plate, position nub on bobbin area straight up and replace throat plate with nub between the groove. I know it sounds weird, but when you look at it you will understand.
