I have a Bailey 13" and have purchased titanium coated needles cause I thought they were supposed to be the best. Problem is every new quilt requires a new needle, is this Normal? Do the rest of you change your needle with each new project? What needles do you use?

I use HQ needles, and I definitely don't change them with every quilt.

are you using the correct size needle? I don't change very often, I use Schmetz top stitch size 14 or 16

I don't chang needles that often, maybe every 3 or 4 quilts. I can tell when it's time to change by the sound of the stitching, it kinda pops when the needle is dull. I have used titanium needles (size 18), I didn't notice and difference.

I'm wondering if I got a bad batch of needles. Maybe I will purchase new ones and see if there is a difference.

Poly Batting is hard on needles. Poly anything is hard on needles. thread too.

I use Goetz Bractet or something like that.
I change needles often, because I do customer quilts and don't want to have it do anything to their quilt, to me it is worth a new needle. Every other quilt.

I have gotten a bad couple needles in a row, which is very frustrating.
