I am creating a Harley Davidson quilt. I want to cut out the inside of a 15 x20 emblem--put an inkjet picture of my son on the inside and finish the inside of the block somehow. How should I finish the inside edges of the emblem that touch the picture? Should I then interface the whole thing before I put it on the remaining borders?
This has been a major process trying to come up with ideas that suffice my sewing abilities. Thank you for your help!!

If I'm envisioning this right, you could use a very small zig-zag with invisible thread. I did this when I was making a memory quilt.

Put two fabics together Draw the open shape and stitch around the marks. Cut out center and fold top layer of fabric to the back. Then trim excess fabric and stitch around the edges. Put pictures on back like a picture frame.
