I finally got brave enough to try my hand at fmq. I have discovered that I really need the needle down feature on my machine. My stitches are not the greatest but not too shabby for the very first time, If I do say so myself. All I am doing is following the printed pattern for this one. I will say that it wears out out your arms so I am taking a rest before going back at it.

Great start. Are you wearing gloves??? Really helps move the quilt without having to have a death grip on it. Much easier on your arms and shoulders.

I love doing it. Gloves help too.

Yes, I am wearing gloves. I really do not think I could do this without them. They are such a great help.

I found it was easier when I sat higherthen when I am doing regular sewing. Then I had to raised the foot pedal to make it easier to reach.

Do you have a supreme slider or vinyl on the bed of the machine? This really makes the fabric move easily! I tend to put alot of tension in my arms and shoulders as I am manipulating the fabrics. It looks great, good job!

Yea! So glad you jumped on the fmq bandwagon. I, too am still learning but it gets easier with eash quilt. Please show us the finished project. I can relate to the sore arms but just do a little each day and soon it will be done.

Good for you! You'll find it gets easier (I'm pretty much a beginner, too...but already know I love FMQ!)
