Default Finally something that makes my janome 1600p work.

Thanks to the wonderful quilters on this board i believe my Janome1600p is working i had tried almost everything that was suggested to stop this machine from skipping stitches and breaking threads. I was about to give up and then i remembered that several had mentioned that purple tip needles made by Janome were longer to engage the bobbin so i decided to order them.i cut a long piece of fabric in half and batting and used it for top and. backing also used same batting i normally use. i wanted to have enough space to do several rows to make sure it worked.i quilted 2 different patterns all the way across the fabric and i have never seen such beautiful stitches.then i changed thread just to see if it would sew different thread. still perfect NO SKIPPING,NO THREAD BREAKING. Never thought it was my needle.Thank you wonderful quilters for being so kind to jump right in and help us newer quilters You are the best.I am very Happy!!!

The 1600p takes an industrial needle (HLx5 needle) this is always a longer needle than just the standard needles for dsm's. Glad you found one that works for you, but I am a little surprised it does. I do love those needles in my 8900 when fmq.

i have used the organ hlx5 needle and it didn't work for me. this purple top needle is made for all model janome and the package it came in said prevents skipped stitches when sewing stretch fabrics and quilt layers.i am doing a pantogram on a frame

Let me know if it works for you, I couldn't get a foot across my quilt until it started skipping. i thought it was my tension but when i put this new needle in i didn't have to change anything on my tension. Good Luck!

I took my machine off of my frame because of missed stitches and broken thread. Have been using it just on my table to quilt. I will order those needles and try again. Thanks for posting a solution to this most frustrating problem.
