I absolutly love my treadle mine just happened to be the same model my great grandmother used to sew on. Since I am the ONLY one in my family the quilts I feel a lot more connected to her when I use it!

I have an old Singer treadle machine that has been in my family for many years. When I was little, my mom actually sewed on it. She said that nothing would sew denim like that old Singer. I must admit, that in my home it serves as a decorative piece, but I'll bet that with a new belt, it would still go.

I learned to sew on a treadle. My sister has it now because she had the luck of the straw. I got one that my mom later bought and restored. It has a long bobin and I have not yet tried it out. I bought another at Goodwill a few months ago and need a belt for it. I do plan to use them both at some time when I have the space. Space is the issue for me. It is great for a back-up machine when the main machine is down for repair, or acting up. I never had an issue with the treadle. No bells and whistles to go wrong.

Thanks so much for the info. I just have to make room for the treadle, it belonged to my SIL's Mother. Thanks again...
