I just finished attaching 80 leaves to my pumpkin seed quilt and now I want to machine sew the edges...I did a zig zag stitch with some hearts a quilt ago, but I was not thrilled with the finish. Heard there was invisible thread and was hoping someone would have some tips or tell me what it is called. Thanks, I am pretty new to quilting...

I use Gutterman invisible thread (called Invisible). Welcome to the board from Iowa. Look forward to seeing your work.

Thanks, I just saw something on a yahoo site about using polyester thread doesn't turn yellow over time or get brittle, But can be stretchy and you have to change your tension to almost nothing

When you use monofiliment thread, wind the bobbin slowly, it stretches if you do normal speed. Also, you may have to adjust your tension.

I use the invisible thread from the Quilt in a Day site on top and regular thread on bottom. It is very fine. I can barely feel in between my fingers.

I use Sew Art thread on top and the bobbin thread matches the back. If you have a horizontal feed for your top thread, you will probably experience problems due to the way the monofilament is wound on the spool. I have a vertical holder sitting beside my machine. Just finished quilting an art quilt using mono on top and only had one breakage during the entire process. Did not have to adjust the tension at all.

I use Coats and Clark invisible thread in either clear or smoke. Is finer that the Gutterman's and use your usual thread in the bobbin. Don't have to adjust the tension at all.
