I don't believe Singer made a household model 44 so we can rule that out :) Is your Singer an older black model?

Is the tension on the front of the machine facing you or is it on the very end of the machine (nose)?

Does the bobbin drop in horizontally or is it inserted in a bobbin case and installed vertically?

Is there a white toggle switch on the power block near the power cord? Model 201 only.

Is it a full size machine or a 3/4 machine?

Go to this website. There is a questionnaire you go through and it will tell you what model you have.
