I see Friday there will be a sale on flannel at JoAnn's (1.99 yd) - would this be good to stock up on for backing? :-)

I've actually been making crumb squares!!!!!!! I LOVE it! It is amazing to see how cool they all look together. I think it's a great way to get used to the cutter too. And I just love how you can just go quick and sew a bit and walk away when you have to (not that I want to).

Btw, anything else I NEED to get at JoAnn's sale? Go ahead and enable me... I'll already be looking at bigger cutting mats. Maybe the flannel if you think the quality will be ok (I don't know flannel). They also have boxes of flat quarters on sale for $14.99 for 15......

Before anyone enables your addiction, we would like to know if there is a Naturalpapa who will come hunting us down?!

I think I would get a larger cutting mat if I were going to the sale. Mine is smallish and I already think bigger would be better.

So far Naturalpapa is supportive..... he thinks my crumb squares are pretty neat! And he'll be home watching Natural5yo while I shop.

Just feel the flannel before you buy. They have some really cute but is very thin. Others are nice and thick and wear much better than the thin. Happy shopping. I'm hoping to get batting.

I've heard that Joann's flannel shrinks a lot, so make sure you get extra nd wash it and dry it on hot! I would definetly get a good size mat. I love mine, it is 24x36, which gives me enough room to not have to double fold my fabric. Of course then you need a bigger ruler too! 24 inches!

I love flannel but I'm not sure I can get there on Friday. My question is---what is a crumb square? I missed something someplace. I am a new member and belong to a quilt guild but never heard anyone mention crumb square. I've read a little blurb someplace that said it is like a crazy quilt block. Please fill me in.

1.99 this year? It was .99 for the past couple of years...all well guess I will have to spend a little more. I do like it for backings as well as pillow cases but yes check the quality and the shrinkage!

it would shrink a lot if you dry it on extra hot...if you dry it on medium-hot and not extra hot it shouldnt shrink too much. And make sure to wash in COLD water!
