Question What go pay friend who's stippling a baby quilt??

I have been quilting for about 2 years now..have recently been practicing quilting on my home sewing machine. I made a baby blanket (40x60 or so). My friends daughter is going to stipple plus hearts and whatever else she wants to do. I told her I don't want a lot of quilting...I KNOW she will do a great job and I'll be happy with whatever she does. I supplied backing, or course, and thread. What would be a reasonable price to pay. I don't know if she'd take money so I may get her a gift card to a quilt shop. I want to be fair and don't want even a glimpse that I may be taking advantage of her. What would you do...pay?? If so, how much? Or gift card?? Thank you.

My figure was $15/sq ft which would come to alot of money.
I'd decide on a sum and get her a LQS gift certificate, wouldn't give her cash.

Oh... I'd agree on a price BEFORE you take the quilt to her. No sense in causing hard feelings over this.

I agree, I would discuss price before she does any work.

If she says she doesn't want any pay or sets the price that you think is too low then send a gift card a few days later.

I would also give her a Gift Certificate if she will not take money. If I quilt a baby quilt for someone, I charge at least $20 if it is very simple --or up to $40 if it is more complex or a bigger baby quilt.

$45- $50 would not be unreasonable. you should talk to her before she does it- .... 'what would you charge me to do this?'
if she says - 'oh-nothing'
then go with the gift card or maybe a card with some $$ and a gift card-
if she does give you a price she thinks is fair- well- problem solved...
these things should always be agreed upon before the work to avoid hurt feelings
