Question for you all n hope I can get some answers. A request been made to make a Betty Boop purse for sil. All I can really find is flannels - can it be use in purse?
Flannel can be used in the same way that most cottons can be used. It does have some differences such as pilling problems if the quality is poor, a more open weave that tends to shrink a lot when washed and it's a bit thicker. I don't see why you couldn't use it for a purse. I probably would go with a simpler construction with fewer pockets or flaps because they won't lay as flat as cotton and the seams will be a little bulkier. You could do the main part of purse with another fabric and use the Betty Boop as accents.
I have several different Betty Boop prints in regular cotton. Let me know what kind you are thinking of and how much you need and I might have what you want.
I have found some Betty Boop in cotton(all of them from sales on the board here). If the purse will be used alot, I would use cotton. Most flannel pills(even the good stuff). I have seen it on etsy too. Dolphyngyrl has posted some. I'd check it out. Good luck with your purse.![]()
enjoy your life...it's the only one you have!!!
